Incredibly intricate

Wow, this piece really shows how far graphic design and CAD have come over the years since I last saw them applied in this sort of manner. The level of detail is highly impressive, complete with the reflections in the window and the fact that you've put the garden detail in as well, to give the piece depth.

With the finish to the chairs, I'd suggest that you reduce the length of the panel that extends to the floor, possibly by as much as a foot, to give somewhere for people to put their feet under (I like it that way) and even tipping them forward, which you're not supposed to do, but so many people do these days. Now that I look at it again, they are the front legs of the chair, so perhaps putting some sort of square hole, or arch there would help? Also, will these chairs support someone adequately, with only one rear leg?

With what I said about the detail level, the vase and the lamp do look a little out of place, almost cartoon in finish, compared to the rest of the room. Perhaps a deeper red (crimson?) would have produced more beneficial results from their presence in the room?

Functional and well presented. I like it.

nice

stylish, simple, elegant. nice composition! the chairs are placed really well, most 3d artists would just say, duplicate, move x 1.2 done. but the little bit of extra work really helps this piece feel more real. my only complaint is that it's a little grainy, did you use raytrace? maybe turn up the quality a bit. other than that perfect!

Carck responds:

The grain is actually post-work, but I guess I added too much :d

Yay! Another Carck submission!

I love when you post. Your stuff combines great 3D-art skills with excellent designer tastes, and you make everything look llke it belongs in someone's house. :-)
Two technical comments: what's happening at the corners of the wooden chairs? It looks like a normals/smoothing problem, but they look flawed. Also, the color of the light source isn't quite right. A bright, sunny day like that usually provides yellow-tinted light. I recommend you make your primary light source 10-20% yellow and maybe insert a weak sky-blue light in the room to highlight the shadows a little. Really, though, you've already done the hard work to deserve a 10.

Carck responds:

Yes, the corners of the chair is indeed a smoothing problem. I was going to increase the iterations to 2 before production render, but I forgot :(
As for the lighting, you are right again ^^ I really appreciate the constructive critisism which I will remember in my next submission!

Thanks for useful comment :)
