The Enclosed Heart

Share

Your heart was open and it poured out all the things that drove you forward to the possibilities, the elation of your passion and dreams..

..They didn't even say a word. They didn't understand it. The way you smiled, the way you talked, the ideas that were in your head and heart...

The oceans of your desires and needs, imagination and boundaries were called deep and compared to puddles. You tried to connect, sacrificed parts of yourself in the ways others could not give in return.

You compromised.

When they finally listened, you did everything they had asked of you and it felt empty. The world became quiet, desperate, and the words they said, the way they said them..grew lost in the sound of your heart cracking.

It cracked until your heart broke open and you poured out into the garden like a fallen rain that pattered against my shoulders. I held out my hands, I've always been holding them out for you. Down here where we think we hear nothing and can feel nothing.

You're the most beautiful thing to me, the strongest dew..a grey heart. Your world ended..and you kept going on because your spirit was stronger and could not vanish. I can hear you inside and I hope you can hear me. When your heart broke, your worst pain connected you to all of us..and as I hold you so dearly now, all I can do is whisper to you:

" The cracks let the light in, and now our love too. "

Don't give up just yet. I believe in you. I know you're not a puddle..you're special. You're...you..
