I collected broken hearts before I met you...now..now all I want is softness..and warmth..

I looked inside yourself and all I saw were the fragments of things you hoped would happen. The jewels of your dreams that thought anything and everything could be possible once upon a time. I stare across the cracked table and you're the only one I'm staring at. You matter more than you think. More than anyone has even told you.

You used to talk so much more, to say so much more. They beat you down after awhile didn't they? Instead of friends you found indifferent strangers. It was subtle, wasn't it? How quick it was to tell yourself this is the way it was. How easy it was to tell yourself how stupid your art is, how unnecessary your words are. How..terrible you are. mm...

..Then you found your way on over to me, or maybe it was I who saw you first. So I stopped collecting broken hearts because the way that you are gives me hope I can be what I wanted to become, not what I tricked myself into becoming.

Somewhere deep down inside, something is staring out at you, reaching and pleading that you don't give up on yourself..and I'm hoping that part however small is still me.
