As for the shadows, I actually prefer fewer shadows. The floor and wall shadows are just a tad bit dark. If you used more shadows on the dress, it would even it out, but I like minimal shadows myself. I've always found a figure saturated in light on a plain white background to have a surreal, angelic quality.
I agree with the background shading comment, I didn't want to do it like that but this was done in a lesson. I see what you mean with the lightness of her giving her an elevated look but in hindsight I would definitely put much more work into her shading and the detail of the background.

im quite a fan of work done with biros. the best part for me is the hair which is never easy to do.
do you sketch it first with a pencil before you use a pen?
i just think there should be shadows and folds on her dress, it looks to plain.
biro is the best! thanks for the advice, i do need to work on making my shading darker in general, but it is actually a lot darker just my scanner is awful and doesn't pick it up well. not sure how i can fix this without overworking the original though.
oh yeah it is from reference, not one of my best but i'm still learning to draw the figure.
