this anime caught my interest for SOME reason. its not often I see an anime about medieval times and depicted in such a way. what makes me chuckle is that the witches and succubi appear to wear modern ish clothing and their way of thinking is like ours in modern days. In any case, I agree with you, the characters all more or less seem likable though I doubt Maria will ever lose her virginity, at least not until the very end, or never at the end of the season.
