Sorrow was found by a Huema trapper by the river behind his home. A newly born washed ashore was astonishing to have even survived. He took her in to his wife in which they raised as their own until not long after discovering she was a Penumbra babe. They could not get rid of her for their beliefs would leave them guilt ridden, even if they believed her a demon spawn, and they could let one no in fear they would think the wife birthed the cursed child.

Superstition saved her life, but from the time she could hold memory, Sorrow was treated more a servant than their child. Once old enough, they kept her in the man’s wood shed away from where any guests and paranoia she would turn on them in their sleep. Even so, Sorrow knew little much else and turned to nature for her amusement and learning. She obtained the large disfiguring scar on her face from trying to disarm a trap accidentally triggered while forging for her caretakers in the forest.
At the age of eight, the man and his wife attempted to pull Sorrow’s fangs when it became apparent she was outgrowing the shed. In desperation to escape, she overpowered them both and fled through an open window. Knowing that was not her home and told she did not belong, the young girl went in search without direction and found her way to a camp outside the capitol of Rayne.

By chance a group of Penumbra refugees held camp without and took the straggler in, becoming aware she had been raised by Huema from her foreign tongue. This fortunate skill found them a way in and deciphering the words of the Huema, though she could not read their writing. After some weeks among people like herself, Bal Hora’ Moon Sect came to select young candidates that showed potential with magic. Priestess Ovara Marie was among them and felt a strange connection to the child as well as potential.

Once again, Sorrow went abroad, this time to the realm of Nuefraust. It was here she was given the name Sorrow after Ovara listened to her story and discovered her learning impairment, rendering her much slower than other novices. This earned her some scorn, but was able to use chaos magic, a dangerous form of sorcery intuitively. Considering Ovara her mother due to their connection, Sorrow was given a strict upbringing until Ovara retrieved her horribly burned younger sister.

Sorrow became co-nurse over the next few years, becoming close with Cachusa after she finally was able to speak again. Sensing a resonance with even her, it became apparent that Sorrow was tied to the Arcturus in some way. When Sorrow learned Ovara had a daughter hidden away, she became curious and sought her out; to her surprise after her actions had been relayed, Mila was now being raised by Miriam, Cachusa’s daughter.

For herself, Sorrow began her search within the Arcturus family for her origins.
