Guided by the Vermilion Mother, an avatar of the ehmatta, The Lead were shown mysteries thought impossible even to them. As the Arcturus were the root connected to the abyss, a sapling would be needed to act as a crucible. Iris was the one to suggest his newborn niece, Viennrosa Adriana, which fit well enough into the coup to usurp the thrown from Requiem.

When Vladmir's designs failed because of Wyvgeist's interference, the fall of Lithavania left their plans devastated and opportunity to surface; The Lead took the reigns by founding Kolonia with Vladmir becoming their center with Iris dead. But that was part of the problem, all Arcturus were now dead. As if part of some curse, all Penumbra from that day forward no longer progressed toward their prime forms. The gravity of his ambitions were damnation enough until Germaine Arcturus surfaced years later trying to form allies to reinstate the monarch. The now established Red Council was mask for The Lead and so they lured him into the open and captured Germaine, becoming a specimen of sanguinology.

He did not survive Vladmir's experiments, but using him lead to the 'blood legacy', a serum to restore the Penumbra's original forms and center of Moon Sect, Vladmir's branch in The Lead, research.

When introduction of the blood legacy was introduced to a select few, the result was catastrophic. Instead of a serum with subtle side effects as expected considered Penumbra's vitality, it became a virus instead. Driving the infected mad, any they attacked and exchanged fluids with became infected, demanding a quarantine and putting down the infected. The Penumbra believed this was further sign of their demise and the Red Council began to lose the people, yet Vladmir was too absorbed with correcting the err to care.

One day all of Kolonia was stunned to discover House Arcturus had survived. Viennrosa Adriana had lived, birthing three children, on being heir, Engel. Unable to touch them with their public return, Vladmir was satisfied with having the lineage continuing for furthering his research; the politics be left to the Red Council. Ilinca did not disappoint as she bore the first children. The Vermilion Mother chose Cachusa, the youngest child. Vladmir was infatuated with the oldest daughter, Vetrise, however.

A second outbreak of what had been deemed the 'gravuzie' plague, Ilinca's oldest son, Varen and his family was killed. This was no accident however. Gaining partial control of the infected, Vladmir dealt with House Arcturus' spreading influence through Engel and Varen, partnered with House Dianisia. The Lead had since expanded their reach beyond Kolonia, adding other Nisrian and Huema with kindred interest to their rank. This birthed the society known as Bal Hora.

The other half of this experiment was to orchestrate Vetrise to join him. his vast resources and research being the only means to end the plague that claimed her brother, even if she and her family distrusted him. Appealing to her like mind, he made Vetrise High Sorceress of Moon Sect.

As Cachusa was somehow able to resist the spirit meant to take hold of her, Vladmir planned to have Vetrise birth their next chance, however long that meant. This would be fulfilled in Cachusa's daughter in the end, it being revealed Manalodia foiled Vermilion Mother's attempt to take her. This is when Vladmir's madness truly came into fruition, a chance at the Blood King himself whom was still alive and harness such power.

Modifying his approach, Vladmir decided on the darkest form of ritual with high success, yet just as high a chance to end the life of the individual or break their mind entirely. On the designated year, month, day and hour, Vermilion Mother instructed when Miriam would become host to an ehmatta itself...
