Xepher-I-Set

Share

Drew this on a regular square sticky note directly after seeing Dimmu Borgir, Unearth, and Devildriver in concert. I was in Portland, Oregon at the Hawthorne theater. It was a truly epic show and I felt compelled to put my emotions down on paper. For those unfamiliar with the concept, it's of a Chaos Space Marine of the Black Legion (my favorite Chaos legion). The phrase is one part the title of the newest Dimmu album: In Sorte Diaboli. The other is the motto of Satanism: Xepher-I-Set. Roughly translated from Egyptian. It means Self Realization - Self Awakening. Another way of saying I choose not to subscribe to any particular set of beliefs or ideas. I simply follow my own moral compass and instincts through life. Another way of saying I don't believe in God, Satan, ghost, spirits, Heaven, Hell, or any of that nonsense. I am the captain of my soul.

For Chaos!

This an amazing little piece of art. I'm a huge fan of Chaos [Night Lords are my legion of choice] and this portrays what a true follower of chaos {particularly the Black Legion] should look like.
Again, FOR CHAOS! And for the Night Lords, Ave Dominus Nox.

bitterritter responds:

Indeed a devout follower of divine Chaos thou art. Thank you for your kind words. They do not go unappreciated. Night Lords were my first choice among the Legion of Chaos. Though in the end I preferred a more...all consuming Legion of that which represents the absolute defilement of the "pure and holy."

Beautiful...

This is one of the best pieces I've seen on NG.

bitterritter responds:

Why thank you very much! That means a lot to me. It still astounds me that I was able to cram this into one little sticky note with a regular ball point pen. That can give you somewhat of an idea of the weight of emotions that were circling in my brain at the time. It was an epic time indeed. There's more to come though! Thank you for the support!

Wicked sick man.

That's great, especially since it's on a sticky. So is that just some random Chaos Marine? Or am I way off on the 'Things that look 40k' scale

bitterritter responds:

When I first got into 40K, The Night Lords were my legion of choice. After doing a bit of research and personal consideration about the origins, intentions, history, personality descriptions, etc about the Legions, my ultimate choice for gameplay is The Black Legion because of their diversity and belief in all things Chaos. Though as far as my True Legion, I don't know yet. I like a little bit of all of them. They're all quite amazing. As far as this piece is concerned, this is a Black Legionnaire. Because they have no main denomination. I like Noise Marines, Khorne Berzerkers, Plague Marines. The only one I never really got along with is Tzeentch. He is a fickle bastard after all. Thanks for the support!

^^

Niiice. Dimmu and Unearth are so good live, but I'm amazingly jealous about the Devildriver. Fantastic peice with a great shape, love the little wtf? in the corner.

bitterritter responds:

Indeed it was a fantastic show. Devildriver was playing tracks from their most current album at the time: The Last Kind Words. It still kind of surprises me to this day that I was able to do that with regular bic ball point pen. Normally I never use them. I can't say why I added the little "WTF?". It's just one of those strange idiosyncrasies of mine I suppose. Thank you for the kind words!
