Watercolor and colored pencil.
It looks like a book cover.
(Strangely, I saw this at the exact time I was listening to a song that matched. *Almost Human by Voltaire*.)
Thanks. In fact the illustration was conceived for a full page in a book, maybe for this reason it looks like a book cover :3
This is great to see. Despite only having one subject, you got multiple elements in there to enhance the main: the banshee. White is a tricky color, but you pulled it of by the colours of her surroundings. The shading is excellent, 'tho I think that the sky could have been darker (with a moon and some clouds to enhance the night effect). Overall, a great piece, especially for watercolor and colored pencil.
Thank you for your kind words. In fact, the sketch has a moon and clouds in the sky but in the end I didn't put because I thought that there was many elements in the sky and the branches of the tree were enough.
great art! beside, that banshee looks alot like 1 of the main characters from rosario + vampire, but then with a skeleton arm.
Thanks :) I've heard to talk about this manga but I've never seen it. This is my version of the legend about the banshees from the Irish and Scottish mythology. I painted the banshee how I can imagine one, maybe she looks like that character but its a coincidence. I think there are many characters in tales, comics, manga. etc with large and white hair, pale skin and red eyes.
I love this art style.
time to upvote all of your art that I like!
Do you do commisions?
Thank you very much ^^. Yes, in a few days I'm going to open commissions. I'll post it in my news section when I start. And I'll do some offers for the first orders :)
I think the fading on this is really what instantly stood out to me. It reminds me of book cover art from the 80's - 90's. I think it would even look good in a book-paper kind of sepia tone.
This really fills me with nostalgia for old short horror story collections I used to read, and besides, the faded colors really lends appropriately to all the horror elements here: early night/early morning twilight sky; dark bluish-green leaves and pale brown tree-trunks (which the sky also lends to); a similar set of tones on the house; of course the pale 'everything' on the banshee...
Long story short, keep whatever "ate color" from this... it could come in handy. ;-)
Thank you for your nice words ^^. Among other things, I spent many hours reading and looking my fairy tale books when I was a child. Maybe this art influence me in some way. But now, I try to do my own style :3
