Kirby Mask

Share

This is a paper mache Kirby mask that I made in art class at school over a period of some 4 weeks. I always try to avoid drawing or making material that is not something I created myself, but when we were assigned to make a paper mache mask, I literally had no ideas. A mask was never something I really think I had any ideas for. So I went with a Kirby mask. The whole thing was build out of cardboard, tape, and staples at first, and then newspaper was glued on top of that. The structure for the mask took a little over a week for me to even figure out, but it ended up replying largely on a deconstructed Kleenex box. The mask has 2 base coats of white, and then a coat of tempura pink under a coat of acrylic pink, as well as two coats of red acrylic paint. This thing is pretty big, too. I can just cover the eyes and mouth with my whole hand.
