Blue Flashlight

Share

This is a quick drawing I did on a notecard when the power went out during a storm one night...and I was burning incense and watching the shapes of the smoke in the bright cone emitted from an LED flashlight.
After drawing it, I scanned it and modded it a bit in CS4 and added the color.

I'll be honest...

...I don't like the way that you blurred your outlines much. Or rather, at all. The underlying sketch is great, but the computer effect does a great deal to lessen its impact. I much prefer your earlier sketches, in which the outlines are sharp and natural.

Agreed and understood. I actually like the original drawing better, myself...it's just not as polished.

its cool

i think is great.
i cant draw so good but i admire the work from others
and from the guy below. the dsi has a camara with al kinds of function
(srry if my english is bad)

vexistential responds:

Thanks, Im glad you enjoyed it.

hmmmm...

a little to parrelell... did you use the DSI for any part of this?

vexistential responds:

I'm going to assume by parallel, you mean symmetrical. Well, honestly...about 90% of the pieces I do are symmetrical. That's just the way I am. If that's not your thing, cool.
I don't know what DSI is referring to, but as far as how I do it, it's fairly simple.
I draw an image on paper and go a little past halfway with the edge...then after I've scanned it, I copy the half and flip it, and voila!
Feel free to hate on this method...tell me I'm cutting corners and not staying true to the spirit of creation...etc. I used to say that myself.
But the way I see it after a LOT of years of trial and error...art is art because of the feeling behind it, not necessarily the amount of tedium,(NOT the same as work), that is put into it.
