Here is my first attempt at drawing backgrounds, and drawing an anime cat girl. I hope you like it because it took me forever. I got lazy with the background, but I still think it came out pretty decent. Cheers, mates!

You need to give purpose when you draw a character, if you need help with backgrounds just make a landscape painting and forget the character. She only detracts away from the image especially since you state that it's your first attempt with backgrounds.
