This piece was done a while ago for a contest elsewhere. The theme lay around the art of transformation, of turning from one into another.
In this case it was either you or something that represented you, into someone or something else that you -could- be. It was to be shown in three stages, first you, middle between, and last what you could be.
I ended up using a mixture of lining techniques I was working on at the time, going from fulline, to faded line to no line while at the same time, fading the Character representing myself into the character that is "Animela".

The person I am is me, Meadow Blossom, a child of a hippy couple, conceived in the nature's beauty and brung up loving it. Animela is the person I could be, a permanent extension of myself underlying the person I am, letting me be more than I could be in this life. Like me she is a person of a loving nature only without the social awkwardness. While I am the wallflower, she is the social butterfly, constantly encouraging me to take that next step. I am a weak person while she is the strong. I am the hider, she is the fighter. While I can never BE her I can always work to attempt at becoming that person. Animela is the animal inside just waiting to come out.

The background is a second representation in of itself. I took two pictures, one of my pea plants, another of the forest we live near, and oilified them with one of GIMP's features. I am that of the Pea plants in my small table top garden. I may be small but I'm always longing to grow.. Maybe of that into the Forest of Strong and maybe overgrown trees. Or maybe again I just like the natural vegetation this earth gives us, always eager to start more.
