EDIT: Thank you Newgrounds for another Frontpage! Love you guys!

Hi Newgrounds! Here's another submission from me. Hope you enjoy the painting as well as the little story I wrote to go along with it.

"Relax, Rahntah," assured Aija. "The stories about the ghosts of White Forest are just legends." Aija placed her hand on Rahntah's neck and smiled. "And besides," she continued, "even ghosts should know better than to mess with us."

Aija was always accused of being overconfident, though she felt her confidence was well deserved. She was, after all, one of the most skilled quest seekers in the land, having successfully retrieved more priceless relics than anyone in her city. But it was also true that her impulsive nature had landed her in more sticky situations than anyone would care to count. Nevertheless, she was right. The ghost stories were made up by protective mothers to keep their children from wandering through the White Forest. Her cautious companion was not convinced that there was no danger, however. Rahntah sniffed the air, slowly glancing from tree to tree as if danger itself were a tangible object that could be seen and smelled. Even if it wasn't a ghost, there was definitely something lurking in the trees. "Okay, boy, I get it," whispered Aija as she reached for her dagger. Though she herself did not see or hear anything out of the ordinary, she had learned to trust her companion's instincts.

It was perhaps this dynamic that made Aija and Rahnta such a successful team. Aija's overconfidence and enthusiasm afforded her the bravery to pursue treasures that most other quest seekers would never dream of trying to obtain, while Rahnta's acute instincts guided Aija whenever her confidence was misplaced. It would also seem that Rahntah was the only living creature that would willingly travel with a girl who craved danger as much as she did.

"What a bother," sighed Aija as she scanned the trees carefully. "And here I thought we would make it all the way home without someone trying to steal what we just worked so hard to find."
