Moritz the kitteh

A little something I did last Friday evening and Saturday morning. It was my first attempt since long ago drawing something using a sample. The perspective isn't right and of course I didn't do the background, but I'm pretty satisfied that it came out so well. ^^

Btw, this is Moritz, my roomie's cat, when he wasn't even a year old.

I'll have to practice a lot more. There's a nice little park in on the other side of the street, if it get's a little warmer I'll definitely sit down there and draw the statue and the playground. Maybe even the small library...?

You actually did a real good copy of the photo for a hand drawing. I just wish I could draw better. I kind of can but it takes me ages. Got any quick tips for improving there and with colors as well?

The background is bland but what can I say? It is simply copying from a real photo. I guess putting details like those from the bed onto the drawing would be nice as well here I think. The cat looks rather happy to see you as well. Glad to see it is still a kitten too. Lots of time to teach it a lot of things about you and how you live.

Overall, you did an awesome job drawing your kitty buy hand. Only thing to make it perfect is maybe tracing your cat's paw onto the paper and giving your cat a fake autographing signature for laughs.

Thanks for your review! Yeah the background... xD I'll REALLY have to practice drawig backgrounds and landscape...
I'm not really good at copying but I think it really starts there. I don't know how often you read or heard it until now, but start really rough with just the basic shape of the thing you want to draw, watch out for the proportions and don't hesitate to use and eraser. As for coloring stuff I just can say, I know a few things for digital coloring and learned them recently from tutorials and it's just "easy" manga stuff, so I have really no idea of realistic coloring or shading.

And yeah, the kitty is no kitty anymore xD He turns 14 in Mai and he's still really healthy and pretty annoying sometimes. And good idea with the cat paw autograph ^^
