This is a picture of Kim Mason, one of the stars of my upcoming comic:

The Amazing and Remarkably True Adventures of Kim and Amy.

Seen here in her natural habitat (a void).

Good

As a cover this picture works really well. I like the action we can see on this picture, even though it's (obviously) just a still frame.
But the colours would work on a cover as well. Ok, maybe it would be a tad bit TOO dark on a book cover, but I like book covers that aren't overloaded with various characters or huge letters best.

The character design is good, too. The propotions are realistic and the clothing fits quite well.
Only thing I would change is the ear. Like Coop already suggested, I would hide it (at least partially) behind the hair.

Ugly ears

Certainly a decent "opening titles" freeze frame for an animation. I'd certainly recommend that you use it for just this reason (perhaps that's where you got the idea from).

The form of the character is good, although I would suggest that you hide her ear behind her hair, as it looks quite ugly and out of place in such an environment. I'm aware of the exaggerated eye size and this might account for it. If that is the case, while eyes can look captivating and beautiful, I cannot say the same for ears.

The colour choice is quite bland, though that could be something to do with the context, if this is taken from or will be added to an animation. The only bright colour being the blonde of her hair - perhaps something else in her clothing could be bright, to bring the image out of the page, somewhat?

It's for a comic, actually. As stated in the author's comments.

Ooh, quite nice! ^_^

Saw this and immediately knew that this was a good piece of art. For the cartoony style, it looks amazingly realistic. I very much like the impact mark next to the feet. She definitely looks like she's ready to stop running and fight back. As said before, the hoodie is a nice touch, I like the little, er, tightening thread things trailing out, giving the impression of having run from the direction they're trailing in.

My main issue though, is that the leg angle seems a bit off. It seems like she was trying to stop, but falling while doing so, but the rest of the body looks like she IS stopping. It makes it confusing to my eye. The other (relatively minor) issue is that the dark eyeliner and giant eyebrow seems a bit big and heavily-done. I personally don't like it. Don't know whether other people feel the same way.

Hope this is helpful to you!

Aigis responds:

She's actually supposed to be in the process of jumping backwards, rather than simply stopping.

As for the eyebrow. Well, I like it. Maybe it is slightly too large.

Thanks for the review.

Stand up and fight

I see this as a very well done piece anyways. She just has a dynamic pose. The box and name going down on the right kind of make you think it was a game card of some kind that you could play as well. Wonder who she is fighting against alongside Amy anyways? Did she just suddenly decide one day that the world needed a new hero or what?

The gray box and font are nice. Also transparent background is lovely too.

Her facial expression seems to be a pissed off look like someone did something that she did not approve of at all. Then her hair is short and allows her ear to pop out so she can hear around her as well which is good. Her fist are clenched and ready to pop someone across the jaw as well. Also is she jumping away quickly or running?

He hoodie is nice. It has a simple white stripe in the middle of it to help show where the zipper is on the drawing. Nice to see the strings on it too, gives a nice little detail to it as well. The pants have very well done shading on them and the shoes kind of make me think of Converse styled shoes as well.

Overall, very interesting character drawing actually. Hope the comic turns out well too. Also what does Kim look like?

Aigis responds:

Kim looks like a young girl with relatively short blonde hair, big eyes and large eyebrows, who wears a black hoodie with a white stripe and hood, and grey jeans?

Very well drawn

Your cartoony style is really well done, absolutely impressive character design.

The color palette you've used is perfect for this piece. I love your shading and, as mentioned, character design, especially the facial expression in this one. I don't know the story behind the character though, which could probably change my impression a bit.

That said, it doesn't really look like a void if that's what it's supposed to be. THen again, I have no idea what a void is, but IMO it seems more like a cheap trick not to have to draw a background. Oh well.

The pose does look a bit odd, unnaturally twisting the body like that, like she's running away from something and looking back, but I'm not sure what the setting is.

Aigis responds:

A void is a place where there is nothing.
