Let's be honest, we were all thinking it, we just didn't want to believe it was true. I mean think about it! Its the only logical explanation! Where else could he have gotten all that power?
At least he did it for a good reason, in exchange for his soul he gets to live forever so he can bring happiness to little children everywhere. Giving them toys made by an army of elf-like demon spawns. It's not that bad.
