Well shit, took me till the middle of January to finally find a chance to draw my New Year's themed drawing. At least I did one this year (as opposed to last year when I skipped drawing one entirely).

I think I'm getting closer to reproducing some of the look of my older water-colored works in these new digitally painted drawings. I discovered that my collection of Choose Your Own Adventure books have really nice weathered textures and patterns on the blank inner-covers. With that texture scanned in and color added to it with "linear burn" layers, it seems like this stuff is getting a more natural feel to it.

Technique aside, hope you enjoy the drawing itself. Somewhat silly and absurd, but you should come to expect that from me.

Very hilarious this picture and not who is more unfortunate girl to be eaten
or rabbit that will notice their error too late.

You never know, the giant rabbit might develop a taste for girls in tiger costumes.

Year of the Rabbit!

I must agree that your conceptualization of how the Chinese New Year Rabbit comes to be is rather interesting; though I do love this idea very much. I think what I really love is your style to be honest, your use of Textures blended together with the lighting really makes the image pop. I will keep my eye open for more neat artwork from you my good man :3

Glad you like it. One thing I really disliked about using Photoshop and digital painting at first was that it seemed hard to get real-media textures in with just the brush tool. Since learning to use scanned paper-textures things have gotten a lot more fun and satisfying. Nice to hear you like the results.
