Sword in the Stone

Share

3D model made in Maya and rendered in UDK (floor texture is from udk), paintover in Photoshop.

P.s, I'm looking to put a team together to work on a platform game. For more information on the project check out my latest news.

Simply stunning.

Very beautiful this. The contrasts between the drab and the nature are done well. I think the lack of too much detail on the houses is what makes thia work. Well done and give us more.

Any want to give it a try?

I Wounder what kind of sword is it?
What kind of Stone?

Powerful Scene

The buildings and the lighting all bring you to the middle, by which the sword rests.
I think it would've been a hell of alot easier to do all in UDK, but that's my preference. The buildings rendered out strangely and require a definite texture to them. Check out www.cgtextures.com and work in photoshop a bit. CS5 has height to normal which can help define and give a bump feel to the textures. I give you props for creating it all in MAYA though, it's so difficult.

i like the sword bit

but i dont like the pillars they look like a completely diffrent drawing style. i think you need too add more detail and make them a bit thinner. im not an artist but i try too give as much artistic advise/critisism as i can too try and help hope i did :).

Good for a game 8 years ago

I think a game of this level is an ambitious project that could really be rewarding, and you are definitely on the right track. The awesome texture on the ground is at odds with the lack of textures on the buildings or the fountain, but I think these things will improve with time. The quality of the objects and textures reminds me of Unreal Tournament 2003; nothing compared to modern gaming industry, but still hard to do as an amateur.
